Heinrich Kraemer the Younger

Philipp Heinrich Kraemer (born August 3, 1789 in St. Johann (Saar) , † November 23, 1867 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German iron industrialist.

Heinrich Kraemer's parents were the iron industrialist Heinrich Kraemer the Elder and Sophia geb. Firmond. His paternal grandmother was born Karcher. His maternal grandfather was the chronicler of the Saar cities Georg Ludwig Firmond (1733-1810).

Life

Heinrich Kraemer studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg , where he matriculated in 1810 and joined the Erzgebirge Landsmannschaft, later the Corps Montania Freiberg . After completing his studies, he joined the St. Ingbert ironworks, the Alte Schmelz , which he ran from 1822 together with his mother and brother Friedrich (Fritz) and after his mother's death only with his brother. Heinrich Kraemer was responsible for the commercial management and external representation of the company. The company started a puddling plant in 1833 and installed the first steam engine in the Saar district in the same year. In 1848 the ironworks comprised a blast furnace , a puddling plant, a wire drawing shop and a mechanical workshop. In 1853 an aid and health insurance was set up for the employees. His son Heinrich Kraemer (1829–1912) succeeded him as the owner of the ironworks.

Heinrich Kraemer was a promoter of railway construction in the Saar area and in the then Bavarian Palatinate. In the year of his death, St. Ingbert was connected to the rail network due to his efforts.

Kraemer was a member of the 3rd and 4th Bavarian State Parliament for the Rhine District in the Chamber of Deputies from 1825 to 1828 . He was a member of the district administrator of the Rhine district .
