Heinrich Mützel

Heinrich Mützel (born November 2, 1797 in Brieg ; † March 3, 1868 in Gnadenfeld ) was a German animal painter , lithographer and landscape painter . In the course of his life he moved to Berlin from Upper Silesia . He later became a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and worked a. a. also together with Karl Friedrich Schinkel . He was a holder of the Prussian Order of the Crown .

Life

Mützel was the brother of Brieger city treasurer Ludwig Ferdinand Mützel . From 1822 to 1828 he attended the craft drawing school in Breslau and then worked in Berlin until 1862, where he was also a member of the Young Artists' Association. He was a member of the Berlin Freemasons' Lodge at the Golden Plow .

He was married to Charlotte Luise Pauline Friedrichs (* February 23, 1818, † 1861). Son Gustav Mützel emerged from the marriage.

  • Mützel is the author of issues 4 and 5 (in 4 tons, 10 sheets each) of the very rare, five-part series of templates for landscape drawing , which was first published by Arnz in Düsseldorf and from issue 3 by Winckelmann in Berlin. Mützel's lithographs show ideal landscapes from different regions from the sea to the Alps.
