Heinrich Marti

Heinrich Marti (born March 30, 1930 in Zurich ; † February 7, 2016 in Küsnacht ) was a Swiss teacher and classical philologist .

Life

Marti studied Classical Philology at the University of Zurich and received his doctorate there in 1959 with the dissertation Investigations on Dramatic Technique in Plautus and Terence with Heinz Haffter . He then worked as a main teacher with the subjects Latin and history, and later also ancient Greek , at the Rämibühl secondary school in Zurich, and later at the Freudenberg canton school . There he was Vice-Rector from 1970 and Rector from 1975 until his retirement in 1990. Marti was also a member of the Federal Matura Commission and President of the Diploma Commission for Higher Teachers in the Canton of Zurich.

In addition to his work as a high school teacher, Marti held numerous teaching positions at the University of Zurich from 1967, where he qualified as a professor in 1970 with the text Translator of the Augustinian Age: Interpretation of Self- Testimonies. In 1978 he was appointed adjunct professor; In 2000 he resigned from this position.

Heinrich Marti died on February 7, 2016 at the age of 85.
