Heinrich Meichelt (* 1805 in Lörrach ; † 1880 ) was a German landscape painter and art educator , son of Christian Meichelt .

Life

Heinrich Meichelt received his first painting lessons from his father. He then studied history painting from October 5, 1827 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich .

He spent the period from 1829 to 1832 in Italy . He signed his works with the "HM" monogram. He was mentioned in the court and state handbook of the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1843 as a landscape painter at the Polytechnic School in Karlsruhe , and in 1847 as a professor for free hand drawing. He held the post from 1833 to 1874.
