Heinrich Merl

Heinrich Joseph Merl (born February 20, 1940 ; † June 14, 2018 ) was a German lawyer and judge .

Life

Heinrich Merl studied law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1969 he was with the thesis The right of asylum political refugee under Article 16 (2) 2 Basic Law in Munich to Dr jur. PhD.

For many years he was the presiding judge of a building chamber of the Munich I district court and chairman of a building senate at the Munich Higher Regional Court . He was also a member of the Bavarian Constitutional Court from 2000 to 2005 . In 2005 he retired.

Merl also acted as an arbitrator in construction and industrial disputes. He published standard works in the field of construction law and was a sought-after lecturer at numerous specialist seminars and conferences.
