Heinrich Plönnies

Heinrich Plönnies (* around 1520 in Lübeck ; † October 17, 1580 in Lübeck) was Mayor of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck.

Heinrich Plönnies was the son of the mayor of Lübeck, Hermann Plönnies . From 1538 he studied at the University of Rostock . Plönnies was elected to the city council in 1559 and was the treasurer there in 1571 and 1572. In 1571 he represented the city together with councilor Benedikt Schlicker in an embassy to the royal Danish court in Copenhagen. In 1572 the council appointed him one of the city's mayors. In 1573 and 1574 he represented the city in Lüneburg in negotiations with the aim of reaching a settlement between the city of Lüneburg and Duke Julius von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and reconciling them. In 1579 he was the city's ambassador to Duke Ulrich von Mecklenburg.

Heinrich Plönnies was married to a daughter of Lübeck councilor Hinrich Kerckring and lived at Breiten Straße 41. The council granted him the usufruct of Gut Strecknitz . His portrait is in the mayor's gallery in Lübeck's town hall . One daughter married the Lübeck businessman and chronicler Hans Millies .
