Heinrich Ruffenach

Heinrich Ruffenach (born August 23, 1931 in Völklingen ; † March 21, 2015 there ) was a German cyclist and national champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Heinrich (Heini) Ruffenach began cycling in Saarland at a time when Saarland was a semi-autonomous state with an independent cycling association (1947 to 1956). At first he mainly competed in cyclo- cross races . In this discipline he became national champion of the Saarland in 1953. He was a member of the Saarland national road team and competed for them at the UCI road world championships in 1954 in Solingen . At the UCI World Championships in cyclo-cross races, he started for Saarland and later for Germany. He started four times; his best result was 7th place in 1955. After Saarland became the tenth federal state of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1957, he started with a license from the Federation of German Cyclists (BDR). In 1964 he was runner-up in the amateur cyclo-cross race behind Günther Weiss. Ruffenach started for the RSC Klarenthal Association in 1904 eV He remained active until 1965.

Familiar

His father Armand was active as a cyclist from 1925 to 1935. After the Second World War he was a functionary in the Saarland cycling association and organizer of cycling races.
