Gerhard Hans-Werner Joseph Griesser (born July 31, 1918 in Stuttgart ; † September 26, 2001 in Molfsee ) was a German doctor and professor at the University of Kiel . He called himself Gerd Griesser in his publications .

Live and act

After attending school in Ravensburg and Stuttgart , Gerhard Griesser passed his matriculation examination in Stuttgart in 1936. He studied medicine in Berlin and Tübingen and passed the state examination in Berlin in 1942. In Tübingen he was born in 1942 with a thesis on the subject of Does the tropical climate have a harmful effect on the heart and circulation? PhD. In between there was labor service (1936) as well as military and war service until 1945. From 1945 to 1953/1954 he practiced medical activities in Illertissen , Zurich , Stockholm , Basel and Tübingen . From 1953 to 1960 he was a scientific assistant for surgery at the University of Tübingen. After completing his habilitation in Tübingen in 1960 on the subject of the extracorporeal circulation. Problems, technical possibilities and his own solutions he was a private lecturer here until 1964. From 1964 to 1986 he taught as a full professor for medical documentation and statistics at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . His teaching activity was interrupted by the office of President of the University of Kiel, which he held from 1979 to 1985.

Gerhard Griesser was married to Dr. Frowine Leyh-Griesser (December 23, 1927 - November 7, 2009), doctor / professor for dermatology and venereology at the University of Lübeck.

Honors

Gerhard Griesser was awarded the First Class Cross of Merit in 1981 and the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1985.
