Heinrich Schwendemann
Heinrich Schwendemann (* 1956 in Zell am Harmersbach ) is a German historian specializing in modern history with a focus on the time of National Socialism .
biography
He studied history and German at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau . Schwendemann wrote his dissertation on the economic cooperation between the German Reich and the Soviet Union during the time of the German-Soviet non-aggression pact . This was followed in 1991 by teaching at the Department of History at the University of Freiburg.
Today he is the managing assistant of the History Department for Medieval and Modern History at the University of Freiburg, senior academic adviser and student advisor in the subject of history. Schwendemann's habilitation project deals with the final battle of the Second World War and the military collapse in East Germany in 1944/45. One result so far is the realization that the extremely loss-making "final battle" on the Baltic Sea exemplifies Hitler's determination to bring about the fall of the Third Reich with the greatest possible losses.
In 1996, history students from Freiburg founded the Shoa.de working group under Bernd Martin and Heinrich Schwendemann , which has developed into one of the most popular history portals on the Internet.
