Heinrich Segur

Heinrich Segur SJ (Heinrich Ségur-Cabanac) (* May 12, 1929 in Vienna ; † June 29, 2005 ibid) headed the Vienna retreat and the German service of Vatican Radio for many years .

Segur, who came from an old aristocratic family, passed his Abitur examination in Amstetten in 1949 , after which he studied theology and philosophy in Innsbruck . In 1951 he joined the Jesuits and was ordained a priest in 1960 from Bishop Paulus Rusch . Back in Vienna, Segur took over the office of prefect in the Kalksburg college . Between 1966 and 1969 he was spiritual in the Vienna seminary , then in Brixen . From 1974 to 1983 the Jesuit priest was head of the German-language editorial team at Vatican Radio in Rome .

After his return to Austria, Segur worked as rector of the Kalksburg college until 1987. From 1990 to 1998 Father Segur worked in the retreat department of the Archdiocese of Vienna and for the Catholic Media Academy (KMA). For many years he was also President of the Marian Congregation in Vienna. Most recently he was honorary conventual chaplain and worked as rector of the Maltese Church in Vienna (1998–2003) and spiritual of the Maltese in Austria.
