Heinrich Steffensmeier

Heinrich Steffensmeier (born March 2, 1893 in Verlar ; † January 8, 1951 ) was a German politician and member of the state parliament of the CDU and the German Center Party .

Life and work

After attending elementary school and high school with a high school diploma , he studied economics at the universities of Munich, London, Berlin and Münster. Steffensmeier received his doctorate in 1917 . He then worked as a consultant, most recently in the Reich Ministry of Finance, and was head of the foreign department of the press department. After that he was an auditor and trustee as well as freelancer for various newspapers until 1930. He was then director of a furniture store and from 1934 owner of the Heinrich Steffensmeier carpet store in Essen .

From 1919 to 1933 and from 1945 to 1949 he was a member of the center and active in various party bodies. On March 4, 1949, he joined the CDU. Steffensmeier was Vice President of the Essen Chamber of Commerce and Industry .

From July 17, 1947 to June 17, 1950, Steffensmeier was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He had moved up on the centre's country list. He was also part of the city ​​council of Essen.
