Heinrich Struck

Heinrich Johann Struck (* 1825 in Borgloh ; † December 7, 1902 in Blankenburg (Harz) ) was a German general practitioner . From 1876 to 1884 he was director of the Reich Health Office .

Life

Struck began his career as a trainee in a pharmacy in Paderborn before studying medicine in Münster and Berlin . In 1854 Struck received his doctorate . Struck received his license to practice medicine in 1857. Even before his doctorate, Struck had entered military service. In the German-German War of 1866 he took part as a medical officer. After the Franco-Prussian War , he was promoted to senior staff doctor, 2nd class, in 1872. At the same time he became Otto von Bismarck's personal physician . The Chancellor was also the one struck in 1876 as director of the new Reich Health Office appointed. There he was promoted to senior staff physician 1st class in 1882. Struck held the position of director of the Reich Health Office until 1884. In 1888 Struck was appointed general doctor 2nd class and in 1890 general doctor 1st class.

Struck shaped the early years of the Reich Health Office and initiated the publication of the magazine Publications of the Imperial Reich Health Office .
