Borgloh is a district of the municipality Hilter am Teutoburg Forest in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony with 1782 inhabitants. Borgloh has only been part of the Hilter community since July 1, 1972 and was previously an independent community.

history

Borgloh was mentioned for the first time in a document from the second half of the 11th century as "Burcla". It dates from the time of Benno II. Von Osnabrück as bishop (1068-1088) and has not been preserved in the original, but in copies from the 14th century.

On July 1, 1970, the formerly independent communities of Allendorf , Borgloh-Wellendorf, Ebbendorf, Eppendorf and Uphöfen were merged to form the unitary community of Borgloh. Two years later, on July 1, 1972, this was again combined with the communities of Hankenberge and Hilter to form the entire community of Hilter.

The closest motorway is the A33 , which is about 4 km away and can be reached via the Ebbendorfer Straße junction. Borgloh can be reached from the next larger city, Osnabrück , via bus lines 468 and 469.

societies

There are several clubs in Borgloh. With the TuS Borgloh a sports club with many departments, including football, table tennis, tennis and volleyball. This club was founded in 1938. In 2008, after the gymnastics department, the soccer department of TuS Borgloh was merged with SG-Hankenberge / Wellendorf. In addition to the sports club, there is a rifle club, a riding club, a home club, a wind orchestra, which consists of a main orchestra, youth orchestra and mini orchestra, a church choir, a men's choir and a local Kolping and rural youth group.

Events

Every year in August, the Osnabrück hill climb is held by the MSC Osnabrück on the Uphöfener Berg in Borgloh . On the last weekend in February every year on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon, the concert by the Borgloh Wind Orchestra is held. At the end of June, the shooting club celebrates the annual shooting festival from Friday to Monday .

In August 2018, the village of Borgloh celebrated its 950th anniversary.
