Heinrich Wilhelm Stolze (born January 1, 1801 in Erfurt , † June 12, 1868 in Celle ) was a German organist and choirmaster .

Life

Heinrich Wilhelm Stolze was the son of Georg Christoph Stolze (1762–1830), who worked in Erfurt as a cantor and organist. From 1814 to 1820 he attended the Ratsgymnasium .

Proud was a student of Johann Christian Kittel , Michael Gotthard Fischer and Ludwig Ernst Gebhardi .

On October 27, 1822, he took over the post of organist at the Marktkirche in Clausthal . In 1824 he was appointed city and palace organist in Celle . At the same time he also took over the position of singing teacher at the local grammar school .

Stolze founded a singing club for mixed choirs in Celle in 1827 and a teacher-singing club in 1841. He owned an extensive musical collection, which is now kept in the church ministerial library and in the city archive.

  • The well-tempered organ or 24 preludes and fugues in all keys.
  • One hundred and twenty organ preludes to the most common chorale melodies with reference to the cantus firmus for all Hanover chorale books, but initially composed for his general chorale book for the Kingdom of Hanover. (1843)
