Heinrich Wilhelm Zimmermann

Heinrich Wilhelm Zimmermann (born February 5, 1805 in Danzig ; † February 15, 1841 ibid) was a German genre and portrait painter .

Life

Zimmermann was a student of the Danzig painter Michael Carl Gregorovius and, after a short stay in Berlin, moved to Vienna with Adolf Stövesandt in 1829 . From 1829 to at least 1834 he studied at the Academy of United Fine Arts in Vienna and received financial support from the Danzig Peace Society. Zimmermann is in Paris around 1837/38. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts and with Paul Delaroche . In 1838 he took part in the Paris Salon before returning to Vienna in 1839, where he set up his own studio.
