Heinrich the Younger of Plauen

Heinrich von Plauen (called Heinrich the Younger ; * around 1372 , † after July 4, 1441 ) was a knight and commander of the Teutonic Order in Danzig and Hassenstein .

Life

Heinrich came from the Thuringian noble family von Plauen . His older brother Heinrich later became Grand Master (leader) of the Teutonic Order. Heinrich was the keeper of the order in Barten from 1405 to 1406. There are said to have been complaints about his violence and his imperious nature.

In 1411 his brother made him Commander of the important Hanseatic city of Danzig . There he ruled with great severity against the population. On April 6, he had the mayors Conrad Letzkau and Arnold Hecht and the councilor Bartholomäus Gross murdered at his castle in Danzig.

Heinrich later became the Pfleger von Lochstädt. Furthermore, he was used as Commander in Hassenstein Castle during its siege in 1417. Henry the Younger fled to the Polish king after his brother was captured. After his brother was released, he was again a keeper to Barten from 1424 to 1434.
