Heinrich von Blankenburg

Heinrich Blankenburg , from 1888 von Blankenburg , (born October 7, 1820 in the region around Cologne ; † January 5, 1897 in Breslau ) was a Prussian officer, historian and publicist .

Life

Heinrich Blankenburg joined the Prussian engineering corps. There he was in charge of the construction of the Hohenzollern family castle from 1850 to 1857 . He joined the Prussian General Staff in 1857 and ended his military career as a lieutenant colonel.

From 1864 he was an editor at the Schlesische Zeitung in Breslau, a national daily newspaper. From 1871 to 1890 he was political director there. He also wrote several military textbooks.

From 1870 to 1873 he was 11 (Oława - Brieg) as delegates of the constituency Wroclaw member of the House of Representatives , where he of himself freely conservative faction joined. In 1888 he was raised to the nobility .

In 1849 he married Albertine Maaßen (1829-1892). The marriage had two children: Gustav von Blankenburg (* 1852), later Prussian major general, and Edda von Blankenburg (* 1863).
