Henry of England ( English Henry ) (born July 13, 1267 or May 1268, † October 14, 1274 in Guildford Castle ) was an English king's son. He was heir to the throne from 1272 until his death.

family

Heinrich came from the Plantagenet family . He was probably the fourth child and the second son of the English heir to the throne Edward and his wife Eleanor of Castile . He grew up in Windsor Castle with his sister Eleanor and his cousin John of Brittany under the supervision of his grandmother Eleanor of Provence in Windsor Castle , while his parents went on a crusade to the Holy Land from 1270 . His older brother Johann died in 1271, and after his father died after the death of King Heinrich III. His successor in 1272, Heinrich was the next heir to the throne. At that time, however, this was not associated with a title of its own. On their return journey from the Holy Land, his parents first traveled to Gascony in 1273, where his father planned to marry Heinrich to Johanna , the daughter and heiress of King Henry I of Navarre . However, he died in July 1274, and Johanna's mother Blanche d'Artois took the toddler with her to France. Henry's parents did not return to England until August 1274, and he traveled to meet them as far as Canterbury . He attended several ceremonies celebrating his father's return and his parents' coronation at Westminster Abbey on August 19th. When Henry, who had previously been sick , fell ill again in Guildford Castle in September and was finally dying, his parents did not travel the short distance from London to Surrey . Henry was buried in the grave of his aunt Catherine, who died as a child, in Westminster Abbey, where several other royal children who died as children were also buried. His younger brother Alphonso became the new heir to the throne.
