from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz-Christian Sauer (born April 3, 1943 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian manager, radio presenter and expert on French chanson .

Life

Heinz-Christian Sauer spent the first post-war years with his family in Rome, where he attended the Lycée Chateaubriand as an elementary school student . After returning to Vienna, he continued his schooling at the Lycée Francais in Vienna, which he completed with the Baccalauréat (Matura) in 1961. The language of instruction at the French state institution is French. Today more than ever, the “chanson à texte” is part of literature and poetry in literary classes: There is almost no French lyricist of chansons whose texts have not been published as books. This is how Heinz-Christian Sauer found the chanson for the first time.

After his military service, he studied law and political science at the University of Vienna and graduated in 1968 with a doctorate. After the court year, he switched to industry and held management and board functions in various Austrian export-oriented companies until he retired in 2005.

La Chanson

As early as 1969, while he was still in court, Heinz-Christian Sauer began working as a freelancer for ORF as a designer, author and presenter of the weekly radio program “ La Chanson ”, first on Ö3 and later on Ö1. After more than 1,300 broadcasts, “La Chanson” was discontinued on June 15, 1999. Heinz-Christian Sauer has been giving lectures in French cultural institutes and associations in Austria since 1970. He designed these lectures with audio and video examples, always establishing the historical context.

In 2001, Sauer was a founding member of the Austrian-French Association (ÖFV) and has been President of the ÖFV since 2009, for which he also organizes a big chanson evening every year.
