Heinz-Josef Muhr

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heinz-Josef Muhr (* around 1934; † May 15, 2015 ) was a farmer in Monheim am Rhein , Baumberg district, and civil rights activist. The farmer, commonly known as "Farmer Muhr", was one of the most prominent opponents of the Bayer AG CO pipeline between the Dormagen and Krefeld- Uerdingen factories . His resistance to the expropriation of a property along the route of the planned pipeline made him a kind of figurehead in regional and national media for the resistance against the Bayer AG pipeline called the “poison gas pipeline” by its opponents .

Muhr protested in high-profile court proceedings against the expropriation of part of his property. The pipeline route runs right through his farmland and roughly parallel to the A 59 . Muhr has already been expropriated for the construction of the A 59.

The city of Monheim is now coordinating its action with the model plaintiff Muhr in order to prevent the construction of the pipeline further. Muhr and the city of Monheim are now jointly defending themselves against the planning approval decision of the district government in order to have the expropriations declared unlawful. After Muhr's death in early 2015, his wife and other heirs continued the lawsuit.
