Heinz-Peter Becker (* 1957 in Walldorf (Hesse) ) is an SPD politician and was mayor of the southern Hessian city ​​of Mörfelden-Walldorf from 2007 to July 2019 .

Career

After graduating from secondary school, Becker first completed an apprenticeship as an electrician at Siemens. At the evening grammar school, he then made up his Abitur and then began studying economics in Frankfurt , which he completed with a degree in economics .

In 1985 Becker became a city ​​councilor in Mörfelden-Walldorf. In 2002 he became First City Councilor . He held this office full-time . In 2007 he was elected by the population of Mörfelden-Walldorf in a runoff election with 59.8 percent of the vote as the successor to Bernhard Brehl as mayor of the city. In the first ballot, Becker received 48.4 percent of the vote.

In the mayoral election on March 3, 2013, he was confirmed in office. In the first ballot he prevailed with 55.6 percent of the valid votes against competitors Kirsten Schork ( CDU ) and Gerhard Schulmeyer ( DKP / LL ).

Becker retired on July 20, 2019.

Awards
