Heinz Erbig

Heinz Erbig (born March 22, 1933 in Raguhn near Bitterfeld ) is a former German diplomat . He was Consul General and Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the GDR in the Kingdom of Nepal .

Life

Erbig first learned the trade of a locksmith . He later earned his Abitur and graduated with a degree in political science.

Since 1961, Erbig was an employee in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the GDR (MfAA). He carried out various activities there and was among other things an employee at the embassy of the GDR in Prague and at the consulate general in Ceylon and in India . From September 1971 he headed the GDR Consulate General in Kathmandu as Consul General. In January 1972, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal, Kirtinidhi Bista , received Erbig to receive the consular patent . After the establishment of diplomatic relations between the GDR and the Kingdom of Nepal in December 1972, he was appointed interim chargé d'affaires at the embassy of the GDR in March 1973 .

Erbig was a member of the SED .
