Heinz Gründel (born February 13, 1957 in West Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .
society
Midfielder Gründel completed a total of 161 appearances in the 1st Bundesliga and scored 24 goals. He also came to 218 missions in Belgium, where he got 48 hits. With Hamburger SV , Gründel won the DFB Cup in 1987 after a 3-1 win against the Stuttgarter Kickers . He also won the Belgian Cup twice with his club Thor Waterschei . He also became Belgian champion with Standard Liège .
National team
Gründel played four full internationals. In 1986 he was appointed by team boss Franz Beckenbauer to the 26-strong provisional squad of the German national team for the World Cup in Mexico . There was no participation in this world championship because Beckenbauer removed him from the list a few days before leaving for Mexico. The future world champion from 1990 , Guido Buchwald , had to share this fate with him.
After retirement
After retiring, he ran the restaurant "Sam's Bar" in Hamburg for ten years. Gründel worked for a time as a coach in the Rudi Völler football school in Cala Millor on Mallorca.
