Heinz Häussler

Heinz Häußler (born November 7, 1940 in Lindau ) is a former German gymnast and active windsurfer.

Life

Heinz Häußler, born as the second of three siblings, was interested in a wide variety of sports as a child, and the proximity to Lake Constance in particular shaped his passion for water sports. But since he followed his brother Horst to the local gymnastics club at an early age and his talent was recognized there, he decided to pursue a gymnastics career. After graduating from school, he completed an apprenticeship as a painter and then switched to the riot police : He also did gymnastics for USC Munich and crowned his gymnastics career with two Olympic competitions in Mexico in 1968 and Munich in 1972 .

After finishing his career, he obtained his diploma in sports teaching at the University of Mainz , from then on worked as a primary school teacher for sports and typing / IT in Oberschleißheim and moved with his wife and two children to neighboring Unterschleißheim . Since his time as a teacher, he has also been involved as a trainer in the successful gymnastics department of SV Lohhof .

Since the "invention" of windsurfing in the 1970s, he has been very interested in this sport and has made a sport for himself a second time. Since then he has regularly participated in regattas throughout Germany as well as in European and world championships. In 2009, at the age of 69, he became world champion in his age group at the "Masters World Raceboard Championships".
