Heinz Küppenbender

Heinz Küppenbender (born February 23, 1901 in Waldniel near Mönchengladbach ; † July 4, 1989 ) was a German manager.

Küppenbender studied at the Technical University of Aachen , where he graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1924 and worked as an assistant from 1926 to 1927. From 1927 he worked for the Carl Zeiss company in Jena . From 1929 to 1941 he was chief designer at Zeiss Ikon , and since 1941 a member of the management of the Carl Zeiss company in Jena. From 1947 to 1972 he was technical director at Carl Zeiss in Oberkochen and from 1966 to 1970 a member of the education commission of the German Education Council .

He designed the first 35mm camera called Contax , which came onto the market in 1932.
