Heinz Kittner
Heinz Kittner (born October 14, 1928 in Radeberg ; † January 11, 2012 in Sebnitz ) was a mountaineer from Radeberg in Saxony .
Life
Kittner climbed exactly 12,000 peaks in 60 years , including all of the peaks in Saxon Switzerland . He left his name in more than 1300 summit books of the GDR and climbed all 13 over 2500 meter high peaks of the Carpathian Mountains in Romania .
He made an important contribution to climbing safety in the 1950s when he and a number of other mountaineers developed the Radeberger hook , which is still used to rescue people who have had an accident today.
