Heinrich "Heinz" Kohlhaas (born July 20, 1912 in Hamm , † January 2, 1993 in Walpole , New Hampshire ) was a German boxer .

biography

Heinz Kohlhaas, joined the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles in the heavyweight division at. In the first round he was defeated by the Canadian George Maughan . After his return he won several small tournaments for the German Reich, was a physical education teacher in the Reichswehr and sparring partner of Max Schmeling . In 1935 Kohlhaas emigrated to the United States and began a professional boxing career there with very little success.

Kohlhaas worked as a dock worker in Jersey City and Hoboken . In March 1942 Kohlhaas was questioned by the FBI in his home town of Newark because of a possible Nazi background. Nothing is known about the result of the interrogation. Kohlhaas stayed in the United States and eventually settled in New Hampshire .
