Heinz Kunert

Heinz Kunert (born March 25, 1927 in Sarnau (district of Opole / Province of Upper Silesia , today Poland ); † April 6, 2012 in Cologne ) was a German inventor and expert in road safety . His numerous inventions include the heated rear window and car glazing that is flush with the skin (extrusion). More than 50 patents, developments and product improvements in the areas of vehicle glazing and injury protection can be traced back to him.

Life

In 1948, Heinz Kunert began studying philosophy, psychology and physics at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn , which he received in 1953 with the Dr. phil. summa cum laude . He then enrolled in economics and sociology at the University of Cologne. From 1951 to 1954 he was a research assistant in the then advisory and research center for traffic safety of the Ministry of Economics and Transport in North Rhine-Westphalia, where he carried out research and investigation assignments for the Federal Ministry of Transport. On behalf of the Foreign Office , he visited South Africa for six months in 1954.

From 1955 to 1957 he worked as a freelancer, the focus of which was the implementation of research assignments for federal and state transport authorities. In 1957, Kunert began working at Sekurit Glas-Union GmbH in Cologne , where he was promoted from employee to managing director in the areas of technology, product development, press and public relations. After more than 20 years with the company, he retired in 1992.
