Heinz Kupfernagel

Heinz Kupfernagel (born July 4, 1922 in Passendorf near Halle (Saale) , † May 17, 2014 in Bochum ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

life and work

From 1938 to 1943, Kupfernagel worked as a positive retoucher. From 1943 to 1948 he studied at the College of Graphics and Book Art with Dörfel, Soltmann and Belwe, and after 1946 with Elisabeth Voigt. From 1948 to 1954 he studied further at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Karl Hubbuch and Wilhelm Schnarrenberger and spent five years as a master student with Erich Heckel . He then founded a studio community with Johannes Pawlik , who was also a master student of Erich Heckel. From 1957 to 1963, in addition to his own artistic activity, he was an art teacher in Hamburg and Wuppertal. From 1964 he lived and worked in Bochum, where he was an art teacher at the municipal Schiller-Gymnasium until 1985. Since 1959 he has been involved in national and international group and solo exhibitions.
