Life, work areas and art

Lanser grew up in Dülken, attended the local Progymnasium, trained in administration and was head of the cultural office of the city of Nettetal from 1970-2000 . Lanser received his artistic training in the ateliers Jochen Wendt and Cornelius Klingen. Lanser's works usually emerge as groups of works over a longer creative period, for example his pictures for poetry by Paul Celan in 1984–1990 . Further groups of works are entitled “Vom Meer” (1999–2000), “Von Zeitfrei” (2007) or “Himmel und Erde” (series 2004–2006). Individual works are in the collections of the city of Nettetal and the district of Viersen . His individual works also include, for example, the cover design of the 2006 edition for the annual publication for literature and graphics Muschelhaufen .

Lanser mainly uses acrylic paint , chalk and acrylic varnish for his work . The color dominates in his pictures. In the “Heaven and Earth” series, the upper third of most of the pictures show a sky boldly designed with large, expressive color fields. Strictly separated from it, you can see the earth in the lower third, with people in it hectic. Christian Krausch writes about the paintings of the “heads” from the group of works “Vom Meer”: “ They combine expressive gestural painting with the almost figurative“ physiognomy ”of the faces [...] Rigidity and immobility are far from these works ”. And the art historian Sigrid Blomen-Radermacher characterizes his way of working: " Lanser never becomes narrative, illustrative or figurative - his painted reactions are emotional statements ."
