Heinz Munding (born February 21, 1923 in Konstanz ; † January 15, 2004 ) was a German classical philologist and didactic specialist .

Munding studied Greek, Latin and philosophy in Freiburg i. B., Marburg and Frankfurt a. M, passed the state examination in 1951 and received his doctorate in 1952. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Mainz until 1957 and taught from 1960 to 1985 at the grammar school at the Kaiserdom in Speyer . From 1963 he was trade director for Greek at Studienseminar Speyer, later also for the new school subject ethics classes .

With Hesiod's Erga in her relationship to the Iliad (1959), he initiated a debate about his theses. As a didactic specialist, he coined the term existential transfer to indicate the need to make the material meaningful for students. By comparing the ancient conditions with analogous modern ones, the ancient experience of strangers could better tap into the potential meaning contained in the text, especially when affective moments such as disquiet or horror occur .
