Heinz Niemeyer (drummer)
Heinz Niemeyer (* 1931 in Berlin ; † February 28, 2004 there ) was a German modern jazz musician ( drums ).
Niemeyer studied with the solo timpanist at the Städtische Oper in Berlin. In 1955 he became a member of Johannes Rediske's quintet (where he replaced Joe Glaser). Since 1958 he has been a member of the RIAS dance orchestra . Joachim Ernst Berendt selected him for the productions of the Berlin Dream Band with Oliver Nelson , Stan Kenton and Don Ellis during the Berlin Jazz Days . He also played in the bands of Helmut Brandt , Eugen Cicero and Kai Rautenberg . He can be heard on albums with Rediske, Günter Noris , Inge Brandenburg , Hildegard Knef , Reinhard Mey , Hannjörg Merklin / Jasmine Bonnin ( Das Fenster ), the group Sexedelic , the RIAS Big Band and the Berlin Dreamband .
