Heinz Palme

Heinz Palme (born July 5, 1958 in Rottenmann ) is an Austrian manager with a focus on international sports organizations and major events.

Life

Palme attended compulsory school in Liezen and graduated from the commercial academy there in 1977 . Subsequently, until 2000, Palme held various positions such as head of the youth department (1978–1985), press officer, national team management, organization of coach training and advanced training (1985–1997), head of applications for UEFA EURO 2004 TM (1997–2000) at the Austrian Football Association ( ÖFB ).

In April 2000, Palme went into business for himself with the company Heinz Palme Management GmbH (event management, project management, personality management). At the 2006 World Cup in Germany, Palme was General Coordinator of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee . He also headed project management and was chief of protocol for the World Cup. At the European Football Championship in 2008, Palme acted as chief coordinator of the Austrian federal government and was managing director from 2008 - Austria on the ball . After the European Championship at home, he moved to South Africa in 2008 as Special Advisor for the Organizing Committee of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In 2011 there were contractual talks with Sturm Graz for the position as managing director , which led to public discussions and finally an out-of-court settlement. Since January 2012, Palme has been the Director Business Development for the International Center for Sport Security based in Doha, Qatar.

Palme is a grandson of the ski jumper Heinrich "Heinz" Palme .
