Heinz Schmidt (theologian)

Heinz Schmidt (born June 8, 1943 in Heidelberg ) is a German Protestant theologian and retired university professor. From 2001 to 2009 he was the director of the Diaconal Science Institute at Heidelberg University .

Career

Heinz Schmidt received his doctorate in theology in Heidelberg in 1976. From 1976 to 1979 he was a lecturer at the Pedagogical-Theological Center in Stuttgart, from 1979 to 1987 professor for Protestant theology in Frankfurt. In 1981 he became a topic of practical theology habilitation . From 1987 he was Professor of Practical Theology at the Department of Protestant Theology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , and in 1988 he was appointed Professor of Practical Theology at the University of Münster . In 1994 he returned to Heidelberg University as a professor of practical theology. From 2001 to 2009 he took over the management of the Diaconal Science Institute.

Heinz Schmidt was an exchange professor at the College of New Jersey , formerly Trenton State College , and completed numerous research stays in the United States, including at Princeton University , the University of Chicago and Stanford University .
