Jörg Thierfelder

Jörg Thierfelder (born February 28, 1938 in Stuttgart ) is a German church historian and religious educator .

Thierfelder is pastor of the Württemberg regional church . After studying Protestant theology in Tübingen and Berlin and the vicariate , he became a student pastor in Esslingen in 1968 .

He did his doctorate in 1973 at the University of Tübingen under Klaus Scholder on " The Church Unification Work of the Württemberg State Bishop Theophil Wurm ". From 1968 on he was an assistant, later a lecturer and professor at the Pedagogical University of Esslingen . From 1981 to 2002 he was Professor of Protestant Theology and Religious Education at the Heidelberg University of Education . In 1989 he became a lecturer at the Diaconal Science Institute at Heidelberg University . In 1981 he was appointed honorary professor at Heidelberg University. His main research interests are the Evangelical Church in the time of National Socialism , with a special focus on southwest Germany and the relationship between Jews and Christians in the Third Reich. Thierfelder is co-author and editor of the course book series Religion. He lives in Denkendorf near Stuttgart.

Jörg Thierfelder is a corresponding member of the commission for historical regional studies in Baden-Württemberg .
