Heinz Seifert (born January 7, 1917 ; †) was a German football coach. Between 1962 and 1972 he trained unit Dresden and forward Stralsund in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

The SC Einheit Dresden floated in the football season 1961/62, which was due to the change from the calendar season to the summer-spring game rhythm, among other things in the GDR league with 39 game days, in acute danger of relegation since the 16th game day. When the situation did not improve, coach Gottfried Eisler was dismissed after the 20th match day and Heinz Seifert, who was previously inexperienced in the upper league, was appointed in his place. He had to struggle in particular with the failure of several regular players, and the concentration on a fixed player base of twelve players could not prevent the SC unit from relegating from the league at the end of the season. In the second-rate GDR league , Seifert tried in vain in 1962/63 to return the sports club to the league, which only reached third place. He was then dismissed after the end of the season and replaced by Felix Vogel .

It was not until the 1967/66 season that Seifert reappeared in GDR-wide football matches. At the Police Sports Association Dynamo Schwerin , which played in the GDR league, he replaced the previous coach Hans-Georg Westendorf, with whom the People's Police had reached ninth place among sixteen teams in the preseason. Under Heinz Seifert, the Schweriner improved to fifth in 1966/67, but fell back to eleventh and fourteenth place in the following two seasons. Shortly before the end of the 1969/70 season, Seifert was replaced by the new coach Horst Schulz.

In 1971, the army sports community Vorwärts Stralsund under coach Hans Säckel surprisingly rose to the top division. When ASG was at the bottom of the table for the fourth time after the 15th matchday, Heinz Seifert was appointed as the new coach. However, he did not succeed in saving the GDR Volksmarine team from relegation for the remaining eleven match days . After he was replaced as coach by the former Stralsund player Erhard Schmidt in the 1972/73 season , Heinz Seifert no longer appeared in higher-class football.
