Heinz Siegert

Heinz Siegert (born March 19, 1924 in Vienna ) is an Austrian author .

Life

Heinz Siegert has been a freelance journalist and writer since 1945 . Through his service as a soldier in the Second World War in the German armed forces , he came into contact with the peoples of Eastern and Southern Europe for the first time, which fundamentally shaped his future work and formed a focus of interests.

From the mid-1950s, Siegert devoted himself to the special role of Vienna in the incipient East-West conflict between the Warsaw Pact states and the Western Alliance, and also to practical studies in the Balkan countries .
