Heinz Wehner (historian)

Heinz Wehner (born May 22, 1934 ; † July 6, 2012 ) was a German economic historian and university professor.

Life

Heinz Wehner's youth is closely connected with the Saxon Ore Mountains . In Aue (Saxony) he attended high school. He then studied economic history at the University of Economics in Berlin and at the Humboldt University of Berlin . His university teachers included Hans Mottek , Jürgen Kuczynski and Ernst Kaemmel . In Saxony he was connected to Rudolf Forberger , about whom he later published several times.

In 1958, Heinz Wehner received a position at the University of Transport in Dresden. There he received his doctorate in 1961 with a dissertation on the subject of the use of the railways for the criminal goals of fascist German imperialism in World War II .

From 1973, Heinz Wehner was a lecturer in economic history at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig in the economics, history and journalism sections. In 1978 he submitted his dissertation B at the Dresden University of Transport , the title of which was: The Reconstruction of the Merchant Fleet and the Development of International Maritime Relations in Imperial Germany during the Weimar Republic. (A contribution to the exploration of the first stage of the general crisis of capitalism) .

In 1983 Heinz Wehner returned to the University of Transport in Dresden, where he became a full professor of economic and transport history in 1989.

His main research interests are the history of transport, post and telecommunications, and the history of tourism in Saxony. He presented several publications on this.
