history

The company was founded in 1931 by master bricklayer Heinrich von Heiden in Lemgo / Lippe . In 1969 his son Heinz von Heiden took over the management. In 1985, the current shareholders, the architect Willi Mensching, developed the first type houses together with Marita Mensching. In 1987 the company headquarters was relocated to Isernhagen near Hanover. In 1999 Marita Mensching took over the management. In 2007, Heinz von Heiden Swiss AG was founded.

In 2005 and 2006, the impending abolition of the state home ownership subsidy resulted in an exceptionally high turnover of around 325 million euros. Many families built earlier than planned in order to receive state funding before the abolition. The result was a boom phase for the entire construction industry. The main reason for the decline in sales in the following years was the abolition of the home owner's allowance, which has not been granted by the state since 2006. Over 3,500 houses were built in 2005 and 3,225 in 2006. In 2007 Heinz von Heiden built just over 2,000 houses in Germany and Heinz von Heiden Swiss AG was founded as part of further expansions.

Due to the boom phase in 2005 and 2006, there was a decline in sales throughout the industry. In 2009, the company built 1,313 houses and generated sales of 162 million euros. In the same year, Andreas Klaß took over the management of Heinz von Heiden GmbH and the business model was expanded to include apartment buildings with condominiums.

For the 80th anniversary of the company, in 2011, according to its own information, the mark of 41,000 houses built since the company was founded was reached. In 2013 sales climbed to 330 million euros. In the same year, the Heinz von Heiden construction center (BLZ) was opened in Möckern near Magdeburg. The BLZ handles the logistics for all of the Group's new construction projects in Germany and Switzerland on over 80,000 square meters. In 2014, the BLZ was recognized by the federal government as a "company with vision" as part of the federal program "50plus".

In 2015, the company achieved an annual turnover of 357 million euros and the mark of 45,000 houses built in Germany and Switzerland is exceeded. In 2016, the company, which specializes in the construction of solid model houses, has a total of five branches (competence centers in Berlin, Munich, Baden-Baden, Cologne and Hanover) as well as 40 model house locations throughout Germany and Switzerland.

In 2016, Heinz von Heiden received the Axia Award in the Best Bridge Builder category.

In 2017, Helge Mensching took over the management. In 2020 he was elected Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Hanover business association " T he Young Entrepreneurs" .

In total, the Heinz von Heiden GmbH company has built more than 49,000 houses since 1931.
