Helen Golden

Helen Golden ( Helen Lanita Golden, married Hogarth; born May 16, 1953 in Edinburgh ) is a former British sprinter .

In 1969 she retired from the European Athletics Championships in Athens over 200 m in the semifinals.

At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 she was fifth over 100 m and fourth over 200 m and with the Scottish team in the 4-by-100-meter relay .

In 1974 she was eliminated from the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch over 100 m and 200 m in the semifinals. With the Scottish 4-by-100-meter relay, she came in seventh place, in the 4-by-400-meter relay she was fourth. At the European Championships in Helsinki she was fifth over 200 m and fourth in the British 4 x 100 meter relay; over 100 m she reached the semi-finals.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she reached the quarter-finals over 200 m .

In 1978 she was sixth over 200 m at the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton and was eliminated over 100 m in the semifinals. With the Scottish 4 x 100 meter relay she was again seventh and again fourth with the 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 1973 and 1975 she was English champion over 200 m. She was Scottish champion over 100 m four times (1969, 1970, 1974, 1975) and five times over 200 m (1969, 1970, 1974, 1975, 1978).
