The Steinberg is a 525 m above sea level. NHN high elevation in the Harz Mountains . It is located southwest of the Hasserode district of the city of Wernigerode in the Harz district of Saxony-Anhalt .
Geographical location
The Steinberg rises in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park . Its unwooded summit is also known as the Steinbergkopf. The ridge of the mountain extends even further up towards Drei Annen Hohne .
On the Steinberg, the Elversstein is a striking vantage point and stamp of the Harz hiking nobility .

In good weather conditions, the Steinbergkopf offers a view of the Harz landscape up to the Brocken ( 1141.1 m ), the highest mountain in northern Germany. In addition, you can see the route of the Harzquer and Brocken Railway with the approximately 58 m long Thumkuhlenkopf tunnel running on the western slope of the Dränge- and Thumkuhlental. To the north one looks at the Harz foreland and to the east at Hasserode and the center of the city of Wernigerode.
