Helen Lauff (* in Essen ) is a German visual artist with a focus on painting , hand drawings and currently paper reliefs.

Life

She grew up in Essen and was the fourth child of musically very oriented parents who laid the foundation for the artist's artistic intentions.

Childhood and youth

The diversity of Helen Lauff's talents, which gradually showed a strong focus on the visual arts , was already apparent in childhood . The father worked as a job as a mechanical engineer. In addition, however, he was also an artistic gymnast and occasionally appeared in this role. His passions were singing and playing the violin. The mother was a member of several amateur theater groups and would have loved to become an opera singer.

The early years

After graduation in 1968 in Essen Helen Lauff settled soon after Kiel on to study at Christian Albrechts University in psychology and pedagogy to begin. At the same time, she began studying free graphics at the Muthesius art college there with Ekkehard Thieme and Fritz Bauer . Already during her studies she taught fine arts at a grammar school and continued this activity for several years, even during her more private phase, in which the births of her three children fell. At the same time, she completed an education at the Remscheid Dance Academy. Her teacher was Anne Preetz. During her first phase it became even more evident that her life in the musical sector, especially the visual arts, was an indispensable part of her life, albeit - due to private developments - rather unofficial. Drawings, prints and paintings were created at all times.

First successes: a life between family and free art

Helen Lauff illustrated school and children's books (Schwann Verlag Düsseldorf), a book of legends (Queißer Verlag, Lebach / Saarland). She lived and worked artistically in both Flanders and central Italy (Marche). After moving to Berlin , she wrote children's stories for the " ears bear " at the SFB , which were also published as audio books by Deutsche Grammophon . In addition, she worked as a TV announcer and newscaster for various broadcasters in Germany ( ARD , SR ) and moderated classic programs (“Classic for Breakfast”, SFB ). Her psychology studies were completed by completing a degree as a naturopath and psychotherapist. To this day, Helen Lauff leads psychotherapeutic seminars, with a focus on trance and hypnosis according to Klaus Mika (Hoffman process).

In 2009 Helen Lauff moved back to Saarland and intensified her work as an artist. In this new phase of upheaval, she was finally able to return to her actual role as a visual artist and, with her paper reliefs, entered new artistic terrain that still fascinates her today.

Artistic work

Since 2009 her artistic focus has been on the creation of extraordinary paper reliefs with applied objets trouvés and hand drawings with their own visual language. These are half or three-quarter portraits with fictional names or people of well-known personalities from the literary, art or music scene, or even fantasy creatures. Helen Lauff draws her artistic inspiration for her work from all areas of the arts, which she processes artistically. But she also transfers her generally existing, extremely sensitive ability to observe people and certain situations in their respective environment into her art, not least the subconscious and unconscious, whereby the long-term psychological work with people plays a major role.
