Helene Maynard White
Helene Maynard White (born May 26, 1870 in Baltimore , † after 1926) was an American sculptor , portrait painter and wall painter .
Life
White studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia with William Merritt Chase , Mary Nimmo Moran , Cecilia Beaux and Charles Grafly . She traveled to Paris where she continued her studies. Here she made some statuettes in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style with titles such as Horus , Oriental Lady With Umbrella or Oriental Man . She later returned to Philadelphia, where she created murals in St. Andrew's Cathedral in Philadelphia and painted numerous portraits of prominent people.
She was a member of the Plastic Club of Philadelphia, the Lyceum Club of New York and the Three Arts Club, among others .
