Helge Kautz

Helge Thorsten Kautz (born February 14, 1967 in Hilden ) is a German science fiction author and musician. He is known for his novels for the computer game series "X" .

Life

Kautz was born in Hilden in 1967 as the son of a printer and a chemical technician. He began his work as a science fiction writer at the age of 13 with short stories and later with a novel. In the late 1980s and early 1990s there were minor publications in computer magazines and his SF fairy tale Marina was broadcast on local radio. Between 1996 and 2006 Kautz worked as a webmaster for THQ . His novel Farnhams Legende , which was included in the computer game X-Tension in 2000 , was nominated for the 2001 Kurd-Laßwitz Prize .

Kautz has been working as a freelance author and musician since mid-2007 and lives in Düsseldorf .

In 2013 Kautz released the debut album Beyond the Frontier with his band Voxager (stylized as voXager ) .

X universe

Another band called X Rebirth: Plutarch Rising was originally slated for release in 2014. In 2015, however, Kautz announced in the Egosoft forum that the novel had been postponed indefinitely due to personal problems. The only published material of the novel is a reading sample, which was included in the "Collector's Edition" by X Rebirth published in November 2013 (not part of the purely digital version). The novel would have been published via Panini with the ISBN 978-3833227035 .
