Helgrind was an English heavy and thrash metal band from London that was formed in 2000 and disbanded in 2013.

history

The band was formed in 2000. After several line-up changes, a permanent line-up was found. The first rehearsals followed, as well as several hundred appearances throughout England, with the band also playing with Return to the Sabbat , among others . The group held their first tour of the UK in 2005 and released their debut album Denial that same year . In 2007 the group signed a deal with Casket Music for the release of the next two albums. In the same year the group recorded the EP Fallen Prophet . The second album followed in 2008 under the name Religious Persecution . Another tour of Great Britain followed; initially together with the Portuguese WAKO, then with the Italians from Several Union . In addition, the song Death Squad by Religious Persecution was played on Bruce Dickinson's radio show on BBC Radio . The third album was recorded under the direction of Nick Hemingway and, as before, at Philia Studios . The band also signed a deal to release it in the US with Digital Media Records and in the UK with Blood Flow Recordings . The third album followed in 2011 under the name Inquisition . In 2013 the band broke up.

style

According to the band's biography, the group was initially strongly influenced by bands such as Sepultura , Slayer , Overkill , Testament and Exodus . After the addition of new members, new influences such as Pantera , In Flames , Machine Head and Arch Enemy were added. According to classicthrash.com , the heavy metal influences on Religious Persecution have increased significantly compared to the thrash-metal-heavy predecessors. A mixture of Thrash and Heavy Metal can also be heard on Inquisition , with the heavier passages now increasing.
