HeliCops - Einsatz über Berlin is a German action series on the television station Sat.1 , which was produced by Polyphon Film- und Fernsehgesellschaft mbH.

action

The focus of a special task force is the prototype of a bulletproof high-tech helicopter: using this helicopter equipped with super directional microphones, infrared sensors, 45 mm revolver cannon, rocket launcher and a 100,000 volt pulse cannon - called "AK1" - and the HeliCops teams want the police and the BKA to fight crime in Berlin. The only one who can fly the ultra-modern AK1 is Karl "Charly" von Schumann, who, together with the attractive and intelligent criminalist Jenny Harland and the rest of the HeliCops team, forms a powerful special unit against organized crime.

main characters

The main characters of the series are the chief pilot Karl von Schumann, called "Charlie", ( Christoph M. Ohrt ) and the chief inspector Jenny Harland ( Doreen Jacobi ) or from a later season Gina Holland ( Iris Junik ) as the new chief inspector and Robert Becker ( Joachim Kretzer ) as the new chief pilot. The main actors were changed between the seasons due to a subsequent chronological change due to which the episodes of the 2nd season play before the last episode of the 1st season. Since the pilot Karl von Schumann dies in the last episode of the 1st season, a new leading actor is introduced at the beginning of the 3rd season. The HeliCops team consists of the navigator Stephan Rubelli ( Matthias Matz ), the operations manager Hagen Dahlberg ( Peter Simonischek ), the inventor of the AK1, Dr. Claudia Jokostra ( Brigitte Karner ), the police chief Dr. Koch ( Dietrich Hollinderbäumer ) and the mechanic Thorwald Fuchs ( Christoph Grunert ).

"AK1" helicopter

The second prototype D-HECY of the type EC 135 was made available by Eurocopter as a HeliCops helicopter for the shooting. The helicopter stunts were partly flown by Eurocopter works pilots and partly realized with a computer-generated model ( Computer Generated Imagery ).

Since the D-HECY was no longer available for the second season of the series, the Helicopter Travel Munich, which from now on was responsible for the "flight operations" of the series, was also a new EC135, which in reality had the D - HEOY approved was used for the filming. The D-HEOY was "forged" to the D-HECY with the help of adhesive film, but apart from the real license plate the machine did not differ optically from the "real" D-HECY.

media

The first season of HeliCops - Operation over Berlin has been available on four DVDs since 2003. The first DVD contains - in addition to the pilot film and the first episode - the television special and other bonus material.

In the Netherlands , Veronica broadcast the pilot on January 6, 2000 as part of an experiment in a Dutch dubbed version. This was the first and so far only time that a foreign program that was not aimed at children but at adults was dubbed on Dutch television. According to a press release and at the winter presentation of the station Veronica in September 1999 it was said that the German language took getting used to for the Dutch audience and that the quality of the series was too good to be 'messed up' by subtitles. However, there was only one synchronized broadcast. A few weeks later the series started again, in the original version with subtitles.
