The Heliport San Domino ( Italian Eliporto San Domino as previously Elisuperficie San Domino Isole Tremiti known , internationally known as San Domino Iceland Heliport ) is a helipad on San Domino , the largest of the Tremiti Islands , in the Italian Adriatic . The heliport was built in 2008 by the Apulia region and is operated by the airline Alidaunia . It is used both for scheduled flights to the mainland and for civil defense .
Airlines
The flights are operated by Alidaunia, which has been flying to the islands regularly since 1986. At the beginning, the heliport was approached from Foggia airport mainly in the summer months. In the other times, flights were carried out when necessary or during rescue operations.
Today, all year round, a helicopter can fly once or twice a day in 20 minutes from Foggia, 75 km away, to the heliport. Since 2010, the company has been using an AgustaWestland AW139 , a helicopter with seats for 15 passengers.
New building in 2008
The old heliport, built in 1985, was replaced in 2008 by a new building at another location on the island. Since then he has also had a terminal building .
