Franz Philipp von Plotho

Franz Philipp Freiherr von Plotho (* 1657 in Stegelitz ; † June 14, 1714 ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Franz Philipp came from the highly free noble family von Plotho . He was the son of Hans Gebhard von Plotho (* 1632; † May 4, 1671), Lord on Stegelitz, and his wife Anna Christine, née von Rautenkrantz.

Military career

From July 16, 1690, Plotho was a major in the "Holstein" battalion and took part in the 1690/97 campaign against France. He fought at Fleurus , Steenkerke and Neer winds and was in the sieges of Namur , Huy and Ath . During the campaign Plotho was born on February 19, 1695 lieutenant colonel and on 4 March 1696 , Colonel . As such, he became commander of the battalion on March 28, 1699 and shortly thereafter commander of the Holstein-Beck infantry regiment . With his regiment, Plotho fought again against France in 1702/10 during the Spanish Hereditary War .

He participated in the sieges of Bonn and Kaiserslautern and was promoted to major general on September 15, 1709 after the battle of Malplaquet .

Plotho was married to Agnes Maria von Ravenschoot.
