Hella Roth

Hella Roth (born September 21, 1963 in Stuttgart ; after marriage: Hella Großmann ) is a former German hockey player and Olympic participant.

Career

In 1983, Hella Roth switched from the Stuttgart Kickers to the Cologne-based HTC Blau-Weiss . With the Cologne women she won the German championship in indoor hockey in 1985 and the German championship in field hockey in 1986 and 1987.

The defender made her debut in 1982 in the German national hockey team . She finished fourth at the 1983 World Cup . In May 1984, the first women's field hockey European championship was held in Lille , after a semi-final defeat by the Dutch, the German players won the bronze medal against the British. Two months later, the Dutch defeated the German team at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 6-2, the German team won silver behind the Dutch and ahead of the Americans. In 1985 she was part of the winning team at the European Indoor Hockey Championships. The following year, she again won silver behind the Dutch women at the 1986 World Cup . From 1982 to 1987, Hella Roth played a total of 83 international matches, 5 of them indoors.
