From 1939 he was CEO of Rheinmetall-Borsig AG Berlin, board member of Reichswerke AG for ore mining and ironworks "Hermann Göring" , Busch-Jäger Lüdenscheider Metallwerke AG. The companies of the "weapons block" of the Reichswerke Hermann Göring were all under Roehnert's control. In 1942 he was appointed liquidator of the Reichswerke by Hermann Göring . Towards the end of the war Roehnert sat on over 40 advisory and supervisory boards. Mainly through insider dealing - speculating with shares in the companies where he sat on the supervisory board - he increased his fortune from 200,000 marks in 1937 to just under 3,000,000 marks in 1943.
